Founded in 2004, San Diego Taiko’s mission is to share the art form of Taiko and its passion for playing with the San Diego community through performances and workshops. The group has performed at numerous community, corporate, nonprofit and private events as well as cross-border festivities in Tijuana and Ensenada. Based out of the World Beat Center in Balboa Park, San Diego Taiko embraces the diversity of its hometown and has collaborated with Sene Africa, Super Sonic Samba School and LeiIsa through its DrumSTRONG concerts. Drawing from the intercultural background of its members, San Diego Taiko’s repertoire delivers traditional and modern styles of Taiko while infusing the spirit of their musical influences.
